I had a need for a smaller camera. This little purse was part of it but I also wanted a camera that wouldn’t weigh down my purse since Project 365 requires me to carry a camera with me, well, every single day. Last year, I lent my beloved Canon PowerShot A710 IS and it ended up being broken. I bought a Canon PowerShot SX120 IS to replace the camera since I needed a point-n-shoot for the Italy trip. But I was tremendously disappointed in the SX120 for several reasons. It was incredibly bulky and, compared to the A710, the picture quality wasn’t nearly as good. So I picked up a Canon PowerShot SD1300, on sale at Best Buy. It’s a Digital Elph camera and definitely the smallest one I’ve ever owned. But I LOVE it. The picture quality is comparable to the A710 (which was my camera for the entire Europe 2007 trip) and it’ll fit in my little clutch purse. It has a higher resolution capability than my SLR, but it doesn’t have any manual setting capability. I think I can live without it since I can go manual with the SLR.
