I’m gearing up for the start of my first iteration of Project 365. Italy provided a great kickoff to what I’d like to call my “training camp”. It may sound strange that I would liken my art to something sports related. But in all seriousness, it’s about preparation. Practice. Discovering and/or honing skills. I really don’t feel like my photography is at the level that it should be. That’s why training is necessary. It’s much easier for me to search the internet and point to shots that I aspire to take. It’s another thing to actually go out and do. As hard as I try to train myself to be more creative, it’s just something that really has to come naturally. And yes, I may have very high expectations in my work. But without those expectations, there would be no drive to constantly improve. And so, I continue to snap away. I’ll take 4000+ photos just for 1 or 2 that I’ll find satisfactory. I hope I get to that level sooner rather than later.
